Current Profession: Manager, Radio Shack “While employed by the Louisiana Supreme Court from 2001 until 2008, I was responsible for legal research. My experience in historical research made the process of learning legal research methodology a much easier transition than it might have been." “In order to answer legal questions accurately, legal researchers must understand how recently adjudicated cases affect the law and a description of how the Louisiana Civil Code differs from common law. The UNO history program taught me how to conduct research from diverse sources to derive a concise answer to complicated legal research questions." ”My undergraduate and graduate training at UNO prepared me well for both my earlier profession in legal research and my current profession in business management. Since 2005, he has also worked as a freelance photographer and music writer for Where Y'at magazine. "The graduate training I received in history at UNO provided me with the communication skills to write concise music reviews of local musicians. Furthermore, the public speaking skills I developed in graduate seminars prepared me especially well for my career in sales and management." While enrolled in the BA program, he focused upon United States history, and he worked with the late Dr. Joseph Logsdon and emeritus professor Dr. Jerah Johnson. After entering the graduate program, Gregory served as a graduate assistant for one year, working with Drs. Gerald Bodet and Michael Clark. For his Master's thesis, Gregory worked with Drs. Arnold Hirsch, Jerah Johnson, and Ida Altman on a topic related to UNO history. Delivering a paper based on his thesis at the Gulf South History and Humanities Conference in 2000 led to an invitation to pursue a doctoral degree as well as the opportunity to publish his research. Gregory's article, “The FBI and Students for a Democratic Society at the University of New Orleans, 1968-1971 ” appeared in Louisiana History in 2002. “I was recruited at the conference by Dr. Gene Smith from Texas Christian University to earn a PhD in history. While I was not able to accept the offer, I maintain an ongoing interest in the history profession. I recently published 2 book reviews on southern history in the Gulf South Historical Review.” Greg recently accepted admission to the UNO Masters of Business Administration program.
