Graduate Studies in History

The Department of History offers a Master of Arts in History (M.A.), with optional concentrations in Public History and International Relations. The graduate program in history provides intensive training in the literature of the field, historical research, and writing.  The American Historical Association ranked UNO’s Master’s program in history among the top 20 in the nation in sending its graduate students on to successful completion of Ph.D. programs at top research universities.  In addition, our history program provides intensive training for history and social studies teachers in secondary schools as well as rigorous historical study for those in nonacademic professions and those already working in the historical field.
