Dr. Connie Atkinson has been named to the Board of Directors for the French Quarter Festival
New Orleans Magazine readers recently chose the festival as the Best Festival in New Orleans. Approximately 435,000 people attended the free festival’s 25th anniversary in April 2008. Associate Professor Dr. Connie Atkinson has been named to the Board of Directors for the French Quarter Festival, the non-profit corporation that created and manages three major public events in the city: French Quarter Festival, Christmas New Orleans Style, and the Satchmo SummerFest. All three of the events are free to the public, and all include scholarly components developed by Dr. Atkinson. Long involved with the French Quarter Festival, Dr. Atkinson also serves as Associate Director of the Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies.
