Undergraduate Faculty

The history department’s faculty specialize in several different fields, but our strongpoints are New Orleans and Louisiana history, urban history, and international history/area studies.

Members of the history faculty also direct three research centers — the Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies, the Eisenhower Center for American Studies, founded by the late Steven Ambrose, and Center Austria — which attract visiting scholars both nationally and internationally.

The department has also partnered with the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University to create the Hurricane Digital Memory Bank, generously funded by the Sloan Foundation.
